Graphics: a way to discover the Holy Land

Apr 6, 2022

On Monday, April 25, Saxum Visitor Center will host an event under the title Graphics: a way to discover the Holy Land. This conference will discuss how visual journalism tried to explain the most important site for Christianity: the Holy Sepulchre.
During the restoration of the Edicula that started in 2016, many journalists around the globe started to think how to cover this challenging information. It was clear that drawings and graphics were probably the best resource to help the audience to understand the evolution of the site through the centuries, the different layers and what was being repaired. The projects in different media led to some of the best infographics of the Holy Sepulchre that we have nowadays.
Father Jesús Gil, former visual journalist awarded with several international prizes, also priest and Doctor in Spiritual Theology, will be joined by Joseángel Domínguez, Doctor in Biblical Theology and Executive Director at CRETIO Foundation, who has been involved in the development of the historical content displayed at Saxum Visitor Center. The conference will be in English.
Both are coauthors of Bible Portico, a new publication that features learning resources for understanding the Bible: timelines, maps and graphics for each book. They will also present this recently released book which is published in Spanish, Polish and English. It will also be available very soon in Italian, French, Chinese and Portuguese.
